Communication channels
This an elaborative video about Discord for those who prefer watching instead of reading → HERE
Discord
Daily chats with peers take place on the Discord app (download it here (https://discord.com/download) This Discord server unites the entire Turing College community of learners from various programs.
You will have a nickname created from the user's name's first letter and the first five letters of the surname. Note that users will not be able to change it.
You will have specific roles assigned to you.
There will be separate sections of channels grouped by themes.
Discord roles:
📌 You’ll be assigned to a general Turing learner role @Learner. This one unites all active learners.
📌 Your second role will be based on your program. If you’re from the DA_2022-12 batch, you’ll get the @DA_learner role.
📌 Your third role is a specific batch role. So if you’re from the DA_2022-12, you’ll be assigned to the @DA_2022-12 role too.
Roles basically help you to reach out to a specific group of people when you want to share a message with them. Start typing @, and suggestions for a tag will appear. Please avoid mentioning @everyone when you need help from learners or STLs because this role is to mention all people existing on Discord, and we have hundreds of them there.
Moreover, if you need help from an STL, they have separate roles, depending on the program, too. So if you’re from the DA batch, use the @STL_DA role to mention them.
